Hi guys and happy Monday! I’ve been dying to try XX Revolution for a while now, and I found the perfect excuse when I was looking for a new brow pomade. XX‘s brow products have been praised on social media since they were launched, but is the hype worth it? And most importantly: is it a good rival to the incredibly popular Dip Brow Pomade by Anastasia Beverly Hills? Today I’ll be reviewing this product for you, including before and after pictures and a wear test. Keep reading to find out more!
Flexx Brow Pomade
8€ – $8 – £8 | Cruelty-free | Vegan | 6 tones
Pomade obsessed? We gotchu. Meet ur new brow BFF, a super-rich and creamy pomade to sculpt your eyebrows til ur lookin’ sleek. Comes with an angled brush applicator.
The first thing I noticed with this product was the packaging. It has a really stunning and minimal soft pink cap that beautifully reflects light.
The brand defines the product itself as smooth and deep in colour, which I agree with completely. I was delighted to find that this product could fill my brows effortlessly and shape them without being “too much”. The pigmentation is definitely there and it’s perfect for you if you like thick brows like myself! Plus, you can also go lighter with the brush and just fill the brow gaps for a more natural look.
Here’s how I do mine:
First picture: no makeup | Second picture: brow pomade only | Third picture: brow pomade + brow gel (Revolution’s High Brow Gel, review here).
About the shade choice, ‘Medium Brown‘ was perfect for me. I usually get ‘Dark Brown‘ from pretty much every brand I’ve tried (including Anastasia Beverly Hills, for reference), but when I saw the brand’s pictures, I noticed that this was a better fit.
9-hour Wear Test
To see how this product behaved during the day, I decided to leave it on as long as I could – from 12AM to 9PM, ten hours in total. I took a really long walk with my dog, went about my day, and even accidentally rubbed my eyebrows a couple of times. One of the most important thing about brow pomades is that they stay in place the entire day. I tried this product for around 9 hours, and here’s how it went:
As you can tell, the product resisted very well throughout the day. As I just said, I took a really long (and a bit sweaty) walk right before I took the second picture, so even though my foundation (review here) was starting to fall apart, the brow pomade resisted very well.
XX Revolution’s FleXX Brow Pomade: is it better than Anastasia’s DipBrow?
All in all, I’m really loving this product. It lasts really well without moving and it seems really waterproof. Moreover, the pigmentation and color are great; it has everything I expect from a brow pomade.
ABH‘s Dip Brow Pomade is one of the most popular brow products in the entire world. Many brands try to copy them, and many bloggers -like myself- always compare the new pomades they try to that one. It’s a really amazing product, but it’s also a bit expensive and not everyone can afford to buy it. I consider it a great investment, as it’ll take you time to use it up and it takes its time to dry up as well. But, if you’re looking for a great alternative that’s also cruelty-free, XX Revolution gotchu.
I definitely think XX Revolution‘s FleXX Brow Pomade works just as well as ABH’s. It has a very similar texture and it’s just as pigmented. For reference, you can check my review of Anastasia‘s in order to see how it looks like! But to sum things up, I genuinely recommend this one if you’re looking for a more affordable option, or if you’re not a fan of the other one.
And that’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful. The product was bought by myself and opinions are my honest own, always!
