¡Hola a todos y feliz año! La primera reseña del año es de una de mis últimas adquisiciones: la Zodiac palette de BH Cosmetics. Se lanzó hace poco e incluye 12 sombras shimmer horneadas, 12 mates y una sombra iluminadora horneada también. Es cruelty-free (como el resto de productos de la marca), se elabora sin gluten y está testeada alérgica y dermatológicamente. El precio está muy bien, ya que cuesta 21,99 dólares (unos 18 euros).

Hey everyone and happy new year! The first review of the year is going to be about one of my latest acquisitions: the Zodiac palette by BH Cosmetics. It was released not too long ago and it includes 12 baked shimmers, 12 mattes, and a baked highlighter. It is cruelty-free (as the rest of their products), gluten-free and both allergy and dermatologically tested. It retails for 21.99$.

Pero, al tema: esta paleta viene en una caja negra sin tapa en los lados, que se saca deslizándola. Los detalles (el nombre de marca, “Zodiac” y los símbolos) son holográficos, lo cual me parece muy apropiado, ya que las cosas holo han conquistado Internet.

On to the palette; it comes in a black box with no cover at the sides so you can slide it from there. The details (brand name, “Zodiac” and the symbols) are holographic, which I found super cute and perfect fit since holo things are taking all over the Internet.

 

Textura | Texture

La textura de las sombras es muy suave y cremosa. Es un poco polvorienta, sobre todo las sombras brillantes, pero no me preocupa demasiado porque no es excesivo para nada. He visto cosas mucho peores y, de hecho, esperaba que lo fuera mucho más porque prometieron pigmentación, y oye, lo consiguieron.

The texture of the shadows is very smooth and creamy, very buttery. There is some fallout when you use them, specifically the shimmer shades, but it’s nothing I’m too worried about. I’ve seen so much worse and actually I expected it to have a lot more because they promised pigmentation, and they delivered. 

Pigmentación| Pigmentation

Si estás buscando pigmentación, esta paleta está hecha para ti. Incluso los tonos morados (que son los más difíciles de hacer) tienen una pigmentación realmente buena, como verás a continuación en los swatches:

If you’re looking for pigmentation -like, REAL badass pigmentation- this palette could be just for you. Even the purple shades (which are harder to make nicely) have a really good pigmentation, which you’ll see in the swatches:

Sorprendentemente, solo he necesitado pasar el dedo una vez con cada sombra, excepto Gemini (última imagen, la tercera sombra desde arriba), que es la más difícil de todas en este aspecto. La verdad es que los swatches de los tonos con acabado shimmer no hacen justicia a lo preciosos que son; algunas sombras son muy especiales y únicas.

Surprisingly, I only needed to do one finger swatch with all of them, except Gemini (last image, the third shadow from above), which is the most difficult one in this aspect. To be honest, the swatches of the shimmer shades do not make them justice; some of the shadows are very special and unique.

Aplicación | Application

Estas sombras se trabajan maravillosamente. No he tenido que esforzarme mucho en crear los looks que veréis más abajo, y sin embargo, estoy completamente enamorada de ellos. En todo caso, subestimé el poder de la pigmentación de las sombras en el primero y me pasé un poco en el pliegue del ojo. Pero, en general, me encanta cómo se aplican y la versatilidad de la paleta. Para ser honesta, con combinar una de las sombras marrones oscuras en el pliegue y aplicar una o dos de las sombras shimmers sobre el párpado móvil, ya se consigue un look bastante bonito.

These shadows blend beautifully. I didn’t have to put much effort into these three looks, yet I’m completely obsessed with all of them. If anything, I underestimated the power of pigment in the first one and it went a little crazy over the crease. But, overall, I love how they apply and the versatility of it. To be honest, you could just blend one of the brown dark shades in the crease and apply one or two shimmer shadows over the lid.

 

Conclusión | Conclusión

Me encantan los colores de esta paleta, pero creo que BH Cosmetics no combinó bien algunos de los signos con los colores con los que están comúnmente asociados. Hice un poco de investigación porque ya de por sí estoy un poco interesada en la astrología, y porque sentía que los colores no representaban muy bien los signos que conozco o al menos entiendo, y no estaba equivocada. Pero también siento que elegir colores para cosas así de personales es bastante difícil y arriesgado. Algunas personas pueden querer que su color favorito coincida con el de su signo, algunas personas pueden enfadarse porque la sombra que más les gusta no es la de su signo, y algunas personas pueden querer que coincida con el color del planeta al que el signo está vinculado porque les interesa eso… así que simplemente lo he dejado ir, porque la temática de esta paleta está hecha para no poder complacer a todos, y a mí, personalmente, no me importa.

I love the colors in this palette, but I feel like BH Cosmetics didn’t match some of the signs to the colors that they’re commonly associated with. I did some research because I’m a bit interested in astrology and because I felt like the colors didn’t quite get the signs I know or at least understand, and I wasn’t completely wrong. But I also feel like picking colors for personal stuff like this is quite difficult and risky. Some people might want their favorite color to match their sign’s, some people might get mad that the shade they like the most isn’t their sign’s, and some people might want it to match the planet they’re linked to because they’re into that… so I just let that go, because this palette’s theme just can’t please everyone.

Pero pasando a cómo me siento con respecto a la consistencia de la paleta y cómo funcionan las sombras entre sí, siento que algunas de las sombras shimmers están hechas para algunos de los mates, y viceversa. Hay una mezcla ideal para cada tono brillante y eso es lo que realmente busco cuando una paleta está hecha principalmente de sombras que no son mate.

Moving on to how I feel about the consistency of the palette and how the shades work with each other, I feel like some shimmers are made for some of the mattes and vice-versa. There’s a mix for every shimmer shade and that’s what I really look for when a palette is mostly made of shimmers.

Esta paleta se ha convertido muy rápidamente en una de mis favoritas de toda mi colección. Las sombras son atrevidas y muy bonitas, y funcionan muy bien. Hay sombras que no tenía antes que no pensé que me gustarían, pero que al final me han acabado encantando, como Acuarius o Aries. Creo que vale mucho la pena, y que mucha gente la está pasando por alto.

This palette has quickly become of my favorites in my collection. The shades are bold and beautiful, and they perform just as well as they look. There are shades that I didn’t have before that I didn’t think I’d like, and I’ve deeply fallen in love with, like Aquarius or Aries. I think it’s so worth it, and that people really are sleeping on it.
