Acaba diciembre y, con él, 2017. Ha sido un año lleno de altibajos, pero ha concluido como uno de los mejores. Me siento muy agradecida por mi salud, las amistades, mi familia y su pequeño nuevo miembro, la universidad, los blogs (por si no lo sabéis, también escribo en Tea Time Weekly con mi mejor amigo)… y sobre todo, por el amor y el apoyo incondicional de las personas que más quiero y que más me quieren, entre ellas, mi bae (le hacía gracia que lo pusiera así, no me juzguéis). Y, para qué mentir, el maquillaje que ha funcionado y ha estado a la altura de mis expectativas o más. Así que hoy vengo a hablaros de los 10 productos de maquillaje que más me han gustado en 2017.

December is ending and, with it, 2017. It has been a year full of ups and downs, but it has ended as one of the bests I’ve ever had. I feel extremely grateful for my health, friendships, my family and its new little member, university, blogs (in case you don’t know, I also write in Tea Time Weekly with my best friend)… and above all, for the love and unconditional support I get from the people that I love the most and that love me just as much — among them, my bae (he thought it’d be funny if I mentioned him like that, don’t judge me). And, if I’m honest, I’m also happy with the makeup that has worked and has lived up to my expectations or more. So today, I’m here to talk about the 10 makeup products that I liked the most in 2017.

El orden no es determinante al 100%, pero sí que he puesto los productos siguiendo un criterio según lo mucho que los he usado, la relación calidad-precio, lo mucho que me han sorprendido… etc. Por ejemplo, el número 10 no tiene por qué ser peor que el 1, simplemente, hay unos factores en los que es superado por el otro.

He de admitir que había cuatro productos de dos marcas que me habría gustado añadir a la lista, pero que no voy a añadir porque no son cruelty-free. Como algunos sabréis (sobre todo la gente cercana a mí y que sabe la dirección que tomará el blog el año que viene), a partir de ahora mi blog va a estar dedicado a productos cruelty-free con tal de no promover el uso de productos que se pagan con el maltrato y la muerte de animales. Es una decisión personal que no voy a intentar promover para que la gente siga mi camino, sino para demostrar que hay alternativas totalmente válidas para certificar los productos de belleza sin testear en animales.

The order is not a 100% accurate regarding how much I loved the product, but according to criteria related to how much I’ve used them, the price-quality relationship, how much they’ve surprised me… etc. What I mean is that, for instance, number 10 does not have to be worse than number 1, there were simply some factors for which it excelled the other.

I have to admit that there were four products by two brands that I would’ve liked to add to the list, but I won’t because they are not cruelty-free. As some of you will know (especially the people close to me who know the direction this blog will be taking this next year), from now on, my blog will be dedicated to cruelty-free products in order to stop encouraging the use of products that are paid with the abuse and death of animals. It is a personal decision that I will not try to promote so people will follow my path, but to demonstrate that there are totally valid alternatives to certify beauty products without testing on animals.

10. DIPBROW™ Pomade – Anastasia Beverly Hills

Precio/Price: £19 / $18

Si este producto no está más arriba en este top 10, es porque no he tenido tanto tiempo para probarla como me gustaría. Quiero ver cómo se seca (o si no lo hace, que lo dudo), para poder daros mi opinión sincera y completa. He probado varias pomadas para cejas, pero hasta ahora ésta es la que mejor se trabaja de todas: es super fácil de usar, dura mucho tiempo, y es resistente al agua y a los roces. Su fama está bien ganada, y aunque me gustaría encontrar una alternativa más barata, me alegro mucho de haberla comprado (además, había descuento… ¿cómo resistirse?). Definitivamente, se ha merecido un puesto en esta lista.

If this product doesn’t have a higher spot in this top 10, it’s because I haven’t had enough time to try it, or at least not as much as I would like. I want to see how it dries (or if it does not, which I doubt), to be able to give you my sincere and full opinion. I have tried several eyebrow pomades, but so far this is the best one: it is super easy to use, very long-lasting and it is water and smudge resistant. Its fame is well-earned, and although I would like to find a cheaper alternative, I’m glad I bought it (in addition, there was a discount when I got it… how could I resist?). It has definitely earned a position on this list!

9. Nude Illusion Loose Powder – Catrice

Precio: 6,99€ | Price: $8.99

Adoro estos polvos matificantes. Suelo utilizarlos para sellar la zona de debajo de los ojos después de haber aplicado el corrector, lo cual hace que aguante sin arrugas y con buen aspecto. El precio, además, está muy bien, y el producto es tanto cruelty-free (no lo menciono en la descripción de cada producto porque todos lo son) como vegano.

I love this mattifying powder. I use it to seal the area under the eyes after applying the concealer, which makes it less wrinkly and provides a good appearance. The price, in addition, is very good, and the product is both cruelty-free (I’m not saying it in the description of each product because they all are) and vegan.

8. Christmas Liquid Lipstick Set – Anastasia Beverly Hills

Precio/Price: £34 / $34

Ya os hablé de este set recientemente. Me he quedado enamoradísima de la fórmula, de los tonos, y de lo absurdo que es el precio en comparacion al individual. Me parece que el precio es muy accesible y que el set en sí es perfecto para cualquier persona que quiera conocer estos pintalabios. Para saber más, tenéis la reseña aquí con todos los detalles.

I already told you guys about this set recently. I’m in love with the formula, the tones, and the ridiculousness of the price compared to the individual. 7. Better Together Palette (KVD side)

Precio: 59€ | Price: $65

De esta paleta, que realmente son un corazón partido, lo que más me gusta es el lado de Kat Von D. Las sombras son increíblemente pigmentadas, funcionan genial, y siempre la tengo fuera porque sé que ningún negro se puede comparar a Devotion. La única sombra que no utilizo tanto es Lovestruck, pero por lo demás, ¡me sorprende no haber tocado fondo en alguna de las sombras! Además, como set, también sería de mis favoritos porque incluye una Better Than Sex (23,90€) y un Tattoo Liner en ‘Trooper‘ (20€) en tamaño grande por un precio muy bueno. Teniendo en cuenta el precio de comprarlos por separado, la paleta son 15,10 euros más.

About this palette, which is really two halves of a heart, what I liked the most is the Kat Von D side. The shadows are incredibly pigmented, they work great, and I always have it outside my palette organizer because I know that no black that I have can compete with Devotion. The only shadow I do not use that much is Lovestruck, but if I’m honest, I’m surprised I did not hit pan in any of the shadows! I would say that the whole set would also be a favorite of mine this year because it includes a Better Than Sex mascara ($23) and a Tattoo Liner in ‘Trooper‘ ($20), both full-size, for a very good price. If we consider the price of buying both items separately, the palette is 23 dollars more only.

6. Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette – Tarte Cosmetics

Precio: 59€ | Price: $53 / £47

Si hay una paleta de la que nunca me canso, es ésta. Me encanta el rango de colores y lo preciosa que es. Me gustaría que las sombras más oscuras fueran tan cremosas como las de colores claritos (como Classic o Vintage), pero en general la paleta en su conjunto es pura perfección para cualquier persona como yo, que adora la versatilidad. Tiene muchas posibilidades y, de nuevo, es muy bonita. Puedes encontrar la reseña completa con swatches incluidos en el enlace de abajo.

If there’s one palette that I never get tired off is this one. I’m obsessed with the color range and how precious it is. I wish the darker shades were as buttery as the cream-colored ones (like Classic or Vintage), but overall the palette as a whole is pure perfection for anyone like me, who loves versatility. 5. “She” Palette – Colourpop

Not available anymore

Desafortunadamente, esta paleta estaba en su último restock recientemente y ya no quedan. Era una de las paletas más exitosas de Colourpop, así que no entiendo el por qué de que la descontinuaran justo ahora, pero bueno. La combinación de mates y shimmers es perfecta, y los colores borgoña que contiene son imprescindibles para las amantes de esos tonos. Me parece que las sombras de ojos de Colourpop son mucho mejores que una gran mayoría de las de alta gama, lo cual es la razón por lo que elegir entre ésta o la siguiente para posicionarlas, ha sido muy difícil.

Unfortunately, this palette was in its last restock recently and it’s gone forever now. It was one of Colourpop‘s most successful palettes so I don’t get why they’d discontinue it, but they did. The combination of mattes and shimmers is perfect, and the burgundy colors are a must-have for lovers of those tones. I feel like Colourpop eyeshadows are far better than most high-end ones, which is why this palette was in a very tight-up position with the next one.

4. Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette – Too Faced

Precio: 44.90€| Price: £39.00 / $49.00

No la estoy utilizando demasiado últimamente, pero siempre tengo esta paleta cerca porque las sombras de la primera columna me van genial para las que no tienen colores base. En otoño me centro en los colores borgoña y oscuros, que son mis preferidos, por lo que la he dejado un poco de lado, pero teniendo en cuenta que ha sido la que más he usado a lo largo del año (desde que me la regalaron en Navidad hasta que empezó el otoño), se ha ganado un muy merecido alto puesto en esta lista.

I haven’t used this palette a lot recently, but I always keep it close because the shadows in the first column are great for palettes that do not have base colors. In the autumn, I focus on burgundy and dark colors, which are my favorite, and so I left it aside. But considering that it has been the one I’ve reached the most to throughout the year (since I got it for Christmas until the fall began), it has earned a well-deserved high place on this list.

3. NYX Wonder Stick {Light}

Precio: 11,90€ | Price: £10.75 / $12

Cuando se trata de contorno, a mí me gusta comenzar con productos en crema y, si falta, añadir un poco de contorno en polvo después para crear más definición. Los sticks de contorno hacen de la tarea algo super fácil e incluso divertido, y el Wonder Stick en concreto es el que, para mí, ha dominado los productos de contorno este año. ¿Mi único problema? Que he terminado el lado de contorno mucho antes que el de iluminador, y siendo como soy, no voy a comprarme uno nuevo hasta que acabe ese lado también… pero bueno, ¡eso da espacio para descubrir (y redescubrir) otros productos!

When it comes to contour, I like to start off with cream products and, if necessary, add a bit of powder afterwards to create more definition. Contour sticks make that task super easy and fun, and the Wonder Stick is the one that, for me, has been best contour product of the year. My only problem? I’ve finished the contour side before the highlight, and being as I am, I’m not going to buy a new one until I’m done with that side as well… on a different note, that gives space to discover (and rediscover) other products!

2. Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel – essence

3,19€ | $2.99 | £2.50

Si hay un producto de essence que creo que todo el mundo debería probar, es éste. Está en mi lista de favoritos de la marca, y como os expliqué en aquel post, hay quienes lo consideran un dupe para uno de los geles de cejas más famosos del mercado, el Gimme Brow de Benefit. Pero, a diferencia de ellos, el precio es diez veces más bajo (solo cuesta alrededor de 3 euros) y es cruelty-free.

If there is an essence product that I think everyone should try, it’s this one. It’s on my list of essence favorites, and as I explained in that post, there’s people who say it’s a dupe for one of the most famous eyebrow gels on the market, the Gimme Brow by Benefit. But, unlike them, the price is ten times lower (it only costs around 3 dollars) and it is cruelty-free.

1. Everlasting Liquid Lipstick {XO} – Kat Von D

Los pintalabios líquidos de la marca Kat Von D son muy famosos. Y con razón. Pocas fórmulas son tan cremosas y tienen un acabado mate que no seca los labios en exceso, y la de estos labiales es una de ellas. Además, lo ligeros que son hace que parezca que no llevas nada. En concreto, el tono XO, que ya no está disponible en España porque pertenecía al set de edición limitada con Too Faced, es el que más me ha cautivado y el que más he utilizado este año. Es un color vino espectacular, muy cómodo de llevar y que aguanta muy bien el paso de las horas y las comidas.

Kat Von D‘s liquid lipsticks are pretty popular. For a reason. Very few formulas feel so creamy and have that matte finish without drying the lips excessively, and these lipsticks’ formula is one of them. They’re so lightweight, it feels like you aren’t wearing anything. Specifically, the XO shade, which is a part of the limited edition set with Too Faced, is the one that has captivated me the most and the one I have used the most this year. It is a spectacular berry/wine color, very comfortable to wear and that holds the passage of hours and food very well.
