Hi guys! I’ve been asked by several people whether I liked Kat Von D‘s Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade more than Anastasia Beverly Hills‘ Dip Brow Pomade, and vice-versa. I wanted to wait until I’d made up my mind. And, spoiler alert… there is a clear winner here. So if you want to know which one is the most worth investing your money in, keep reading!

Before we get to the conclusion, where I’ll explain why I chose what I chose, here’s a brief introduction to both products…

About the Dip Brow Pomade

Shade: Dark Brown | Cruelty-free | Vegan | Price: $19 / $18

I reviewed the Dip Brow Pomade almost one year ago, after almost six months of testing it. I made my final verdict back then, and it was that it didn’t dry out too badly, and I could still use it after the expiration date.

If I’m honest, I still try to use it every now and then to see if it works, and it’s not as creamy as it was in the beginning, but it still looks great. I even repurchased it a couple of months ago! Here are the positives and negatives I wrote in that post:

Positive

• It has high pigmentation, so you do not need to apply much product as little goes a long way. You can also build it up.
• It is waterproof and smudge-proof.
• It has a matt finish.
• The formula is very creamy and that makes it so easy and effortless to apply.
• Very long-lasting.
• It has a fairly wide range of natural tones, with 11 tones available.

Negative

• It can be difficult to control if you don’t have a lot of practice with this type of product, but I think that with practice, it becomes very easy and quick to use.

About the Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade

I reviewed this product last summer. I didn’t wait much to publish it, which I regret now because I didn’t wait to see if it dried up quickly or not, which is a very important factor in these products. I’ll get to that later, but here are the pros and cons I pointed out in that post:

Pros

• It lasts a lot. Once dry, this pomade doesn’t transfer at all, not even when it’s rubbed, and it also lasts many hours.
• It’s completely waterproof and it is especially useful for people with mixed/oily skin.
• Although the tone range is already quite huge by itself, there are tones specially created to modify the rest (or to be used alone).
• The texture is very creamy. It applies very smoothly, so there’s no need for you to press too hard in order to define the eyebrow. At first, it leaves a gel-like/wet effect, but after a while, it dries matte.
• Little product goes a long way. That’s a good thing because, similarly to Anastasia Beverly Hills‘ Dip Brow Pomade (reviewed here), you make sure you won’t need to buy another product in a long time.

Cons

• They have purple tones… but no natural redhair color. The only way to achieve such tone is by mixing several pomades, which I consider to be a huge failure in their behalf if they’re creating an “extensive” range.

So… which one is the best?

Simply put, my favorite is Anastasia Beverly Hills‘ Dip Brow Pomade.

In Spain, Kat Von D‘s Super Brow Pomade is a bit less expensive than the ABH pomade. That made me extra excited about this product – what if it was the “perfect alternative”? The formulas were rather similar after all: waterproof, creamy, long-lasting… at first, at least.

As much as I loved Kat Von D‘s Super Brow Pomade in the beginning (especially after a couple of weeks because it dried up a bit and lost the very gel-like consistency, which I didn’t like that much), it started to dry out heavily after two or three months of use.

Sure, you could still work with it, but I didn’t get that with my Dip Brow Pomade. In a way, picking one was a bit hard because they’re reasonably similar, but I think that the actual durability of the product (which is one of the biggest concerns people have with these products) made the cut.
